Tomás Arrieta

President of the Basque Industrial Relations Council.

A graduate in law and qualified in the legal-economic specialisation from the University of Deusto. A lawyer and civil servant on sabbatical from the lawyers' body of the social security administration, he has worked essentially in the field of employment and social security law. He joined PRECO, the Basque inter-professional agreement for the voluntary settlement of disputes, as an arbitrator in the year 1990. In 2002 he joined the Basque labour relations council as general secretary, and since 2008 has chaired this body. He is a collaborating lecturer at the Deusto Business School (DBS), part of the University of Deusto, in the field of labour relations and collective bargaining.
