Gemma Scalise
A doctor of sociology, she is an assistant lecturer in economic sociology in the department of sociology and social research at the Bicocca university of Milan. She has been an assistant lecturer at the University of Bérgamo (2019-2020), Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute (2017-2019) and visiting researcher at the Max Planck institute for the study of societies in Cologne (2019) and at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2015). She is a member of the editorial committee of the SAGE journal Sociology and lead researcher on the CITILab project on "Compound inequalities and labour market outsiders" funded by the Cariplo foundation. Her main research interests centre on regulation of the labour market and the social welfare system, social investment models, comparative political economy, multi-level European governance and the relations between political ideas and institutional change.
