Clara Sanz López

General Secretary of Vocational Training of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.

Clara Sanz López has been the General Secretary of Vocational Training at the Spanish Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MEFP) since January 2020. Before this she had been director general of vocational training at the same ministry since July 2018. She belongs to the body of education inspectors and has held different positions in both Basque and Spanish education administrations. Sanz has worked with international organisations as an expert in careers guidance and educational policy. She has also taken part in projects by different Spanish universities and other bodies. The is the author of several publications on academic and vocational guidance, vocational training, educational systems and assessment of public education policy. Clara Sanz holds a bachelor's degree in Modern and Contemporary History from the Autonomous University of Madrid, as well as a master's degree in Careers Guidance. She is also qualified in teaching from the Autonomous University of Madrid. She has earned a range of accolades including the Grand Cross of Military Merit with a white distinction from the Spanish ministry of defence in 2020, and the Honorary Prize for Backing Talent and Innovation in the Top 100 Innovative Leaders ranking in 2022 and in September 2023 she was awarded the Cross of Police Merit with white badge by the Ministry of the Interior.
