Joseba Zalakain
Mr Zalakain holds a degree in Information Sciences from the University of the Basque Country (1991) and a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) in Social Work from the Public University of Navarre (2004).
He has worked at the Eguía Careaga Foundation's Social Information and Investigation Service since 1996 and has been its director since 2007. He has participated in various research projects on social services, poverty, social exclusion, dependency, ageing, disability and drug dependency, and in the design of various social services observatories. In the field of planning, he has contributed to drafting the Basque Government's strategies for social services, family and care for the homeless, as well as to the Technical Commission for the reform of the Income Guarantee Plan and the drafting and evaluation of the Basque Country's various social inclusion plans.
He has been a member of the Advisory Council of the Ministry of Health, Consumer Affairs and Social Welfare and is currently a member of the Civil Dialogue Roundtable on Dependency of the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, as well as of the Executive Committee of the Spanish Social Policy Network (REPS). Furthermore, he collaborates in the Master's Degree on actions with people in situations of vulnerability and social exclusion at the University of Deusto and in the University Specialisation Course in management and innovation in social services at the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU).
