In 2002 and 2004, The Department of Education, Universities and Research, through its Vocational Training and Longlife Training Office, organised the First and Second Exhibitions on Vocational Training. This year, 2006, it is intended to give continuity to this experience from the perspective of “Vocational Training as a target for employment”.

The Exhibition will be held on 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 November 2006, under the following topic:

Vocational training:
A way towards employment

These EXHIBITIONS have all along been aimed at making the Vocational Training and its various Professional sectors known to all, offering to the people of the Basque Country a close approach to this educational field and its relation with employment. At the same time, the in-site work of the students as well as the new materials and technological innovations in the field of the Vocational Training will be on display during the exhibition.

This EXHIBITION will offer to the visitors, and particularly to those students in their final year of Secondary Education who are the main target of this event, technical resources and new ways of facing the Vocational Training so that they can see by themselves the situation of the vocational training in the Basque Country and its potential for employment.

As a new feature, for the first time in the Basque Country, during the Exhibition it is intended to hold among the students of the Vocational Training Schools in the area, a Competition of skills and expertise on the following professional sectors: Mechanical Engineering, Electricity & Electronics (Industrial Robotics) and Hairdressing & Beauty, fields that are having a high rate of employability.

This Competition aims at promoting awareness of the essential contribution that skills and high standards of competence have in the achieving of both professional success and personal fulfilment. At the same time, it will further promote and give recognition to the Vocational Training, while offering a challenge to the young participants and their teachers in their way to achieve higher levels of competence.
